Industry News > MEDIA RELEASE - Fox Flight Air Ambulance Expands Fleet
Fox Flight Air Ambulance, a Canadian company specializing in international medical repatriation, recently added a Lear-45XR to its fleet of specially configured air ambulances. The Lear-45XR joins Fox Flight’s existing fleet of three Lear-40XRs based in Toronto. All of these aircraft feature state-of-the-art avionics and have been custom-fitted for dedicated aeromedical operation. Company president David Fox said the addition of the Lear-45 will allow the company to immediately augment and expand its services in Europe.
“We believe that travel to and from Europe is poised to take off in the wake of the COVID pandemic,” Fox explained. “Adding capacity to our fleet allows us to meet that pent-up demand while continuing to provide service for clients traveling in North America, Central and South America and the Caribbean. Ultimately, we intend to base the Lear-45XR in Europe, which will allow us to fly longer wing-to-wing missions using our own aircraft and crews exclusively.”
Fox Flight acquired its new Lear-45XR from Luxembourg Air Rescue, a national aeromedical transport service, therefore the plane is fully configured for that application and ready to fly medical repatriation missions. Added Fox: “Just like with our Lear-40XRs, the longer fuselage of the Lear-45XR provides room for a washroom and extra baggage, which many air ambulances don’t have; and the taller and wider cabin makes it easier for the medical crew to load and unload the patient and provide in-flight care. Medical repatriation is always challenging, but these factors help make the experience easier for patients, companions and crew alike.”
