Growing competition on domestic and Canada-U.S. routes and a likely steeper-than-usual seasonal drop in demand for leisure travel this fall mean airlines are slashing prices to fill planes, according to McGill University’s aviation management program. Flight ticket prices often drop by 10 per cent or more in the fall compared to summer’s peaks, and the head of U.S. public relations for Expedia says savings are expected to be even larger this autumn.
